NBA Draft Projections (June 1, 2009)
PF - Blake Griffin (6'10" 250, Oklahoma So.)
1. Los Angeles Clippers
Highlight Video of Blake Griffin
Strengths:
It's jaw dropping how athletic Griffin is for his size. His physique and athleticism alone make him a lottery pick, but combined with production of nearly 23 points and 14.5 rebounds a game, it's easy to see why he's the consensus number one pick. He's got good range on his jump shot and a soft shooting stroke, but it's his ability to get to the basket and finish with purpose that has NBA scouts a buzz.
Weaknesses:
There aren't many areas of weakness in Griffin's game, and we're simply not buying the concerns surrounding his defensive intensity. Instead, our concern is that he has a tendancy to play methodically on offense when he's unable to get to the basket.
Hoops IQ says:
The Clippers have no choice, Blake Griffin is their guy. Although, the Clippers' frontcourt is crowded and highly over-paid, it would be a public relations disaster if the organization went a different direction on draft night.
